LUKE NORMAN

BIO

Luke Norman is a violinist, arranger, and composer from Menlo Park, California. Luke began playing the violin at four years old under the tutelage of Jacquelyn Corina, studying classical music for 14 years. Luke has continued his studies at Berklee College of Music, in Boston, Massachusetts, where is majoring in Professional Music with concentrations in Violin Performance and Jazz Composition. During his time at Berklee College of Music, Luke has participated in several ensembles, including the Miley Cyrus Advanced Artist Showcase Ensemble, where he arranged the string parts and played first violin. Through his exposure to the music of Thundercat, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Herbie Hancock, and others, Luke became enamored with the tradition of jazz and fusion and the incorporation of contemporary rhythms and grooves into its language. Through his compositions,  performance, and teaching ,Luke strives to use the jazz medium to honor the forefathers and foremothers of the tradition, express his personal artistry, and share his perspective on the world around him.
